Our sailing yacht is located in the serene Seru Boca Marina in the Spanish Waters. From here we have a stunning view on all kinds of yachts and sailboats, unique scenery of nature and an amazing lookout on the Table Mountain. We describe it best as a large, unevenly shaped lagoon with several sheltered bays about 10 km southeast of Willemstad Curacao. The well-protected bays are very vivid with all kinds of aquatic sports such as yachting, kayaking, surfing, snorkeling, jet skis and supboard paddling. 

Excavations show that the Arawak people, the first inhabitants of Curaçao, were settled at the entrance to the Caribbean Sea, today's St. Barbara Beach and Sandals Curacao Resort. The lagoon has always been of strategic importance to a lot of European conquerors. Fort Beekenburg played a central role there and you can still visit this authentic monument in the inlet of the Caracas Bay, near the higher Quarantaine house. 

Nowadays visiting boats from all parts of the world are free to anchor at the lagoon at the designated anchorages. All year long but mainly during the hurricane season. Because Curacao is outside the hurricane belt, boats who travel from risky corners of the world come here to seek shelter until the season is over. Even though the bays are sheltered, the winds can be pretty strong.

Around the bays you will spot impressive houses and resorts that indicate the good lifestyle of the popular areas of Jan Thiel, Brakke Put, Jan Sofat and Seru Boca. In the mangrove bays towards the former Santa Barbara Plantation you will find the beautiful country house of Santa Barbara on top of the hill.
