Where is Curacao located? Island's facts at a glance

Curacao belongs to the so called ABC group, with Aruba on its west and Bonaire on the east side, all are located in the Southern Caribbean Sea, north of the equator and outside the hurricane belt. The Dutch Caribbean islands historically known as the Dutch West Indies includes the 6 islands of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba.

Did you know Curacao also includes Klein Curaçao? A small 1,5 square kilometer uninhabited island with pristine beaches, located 10 kilometers south east and perfect for day trips and overnights on a boat. 


What is the best time to visit Curacao?  


Curacao has an attractive warm climate all year round with an average temperature of 83°F and a continous, tropical breeze. This is why our guests keep coming back (or don't leave at all ;) If you love to practice watersports, sailing and snorkeling, you will enjoy it here throughout the year. The average sea water temperature is about 28°C (83°F).


In general, the skies are mostly clear to partly cloudy. The hottest moments of the year are in the months September and October. Most rain falls from October until December. 


The high season builds up around the Christmas holidays, from December until April. If you love to sail, dive or snorkel, you will enjoy it throughout the year. 


Escape the crowds

Highest Point Mount Christoffel  


Our island stretches 40 miles from the southeast to the northwest. The land area is 444 square kilometres, around 171 square miles (61km from east to west and 14km from north to south). The highest point is the Christoffelberg (Mount Christoffel) with its 375m in the western part of the island. Perfect for those who love a brisk early bird walk. 


Willemstad Unesco World Heritage Site  


The Islands population counts about 156.000 inhabitants and is a cultural mix of more then 100 nationalities. The main city Willemstad is a Unesco World Heritage Site, which is unique and one of the few located in the Caribbean. On the 10th of October 2010 Curacao became autonomous within the Royal Kingdom of the Netherlands. This day is a national holiday.


Native language Papiamento  


The official language is Dutch, but English and Spanish are spoken everywhere. The native language is Papiamento and is a variety of languages such as Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese, English, Indian and a little African.


Local Currency NAF 


The Local currency is ‘the guilder’ (Netherlands Antillean Florin). Also US dollars are accepted island-wide and change may be given in guilders.
